Teens and menstrual problems that they can face are menorrhagia, dysmenorrheal, and endometriosis. These are the most common menstrual disorders that they are generally faced with, but certainly not the only ones.
Menorrhagia is an estrogen and progesterone hormone imbalance, which will cause extremely heavy and prolonged periods. This isnt going to be the normal heavy flow for a few days. If your daughters menstrual bleeding causes her to go through a single paid every hour for 7 hours in a day for longer than a few days than I would highly suggest that you call her doctor. The cause of this is usually one of the following problems, fibroids or polyps in the uterus, thyroid conditions, clotting disorder, or an inflammation or infection in the vagina or cervix.
Primary dysmenorrheal or secondary dysmenorrheal is extremely painful cramping that will last for more than a day or two. We all get cramps, but often they will occur only the first day or two. Primary dysmenorrheal is a chemical related issue. Secondary dysmenorrheal is a condition much like polyps.
Endometriosis is a condition that has to due with the tissues. The tissue that are only found inside the uterus are growing in the ovaries, fallopian tubes or other places that they are not supposed to. The result of this is abnormal bleeding during your menstrual cycle.
You can find a great amount of information about each of the teens and menstrual problems right online. Its important that you are discuss these conditions with your daughter so that she understands some of the warning signs and will tell you when something doesnt seem right. There is no way for you to know how heavy she is really bleeding if she doesnt tell you. The severe cramps might be the only thing that you can tell because she will most definitely voices the pain that she is feeling.
Its not easy as an adult to deal with your menstrual cycle, so its important that you help your daughter through these changes that are going on not only in her body, but also with her emotions and her new found feelings that she once did without. Boys are now seen in a new light.
